Mushroom Walk Sunday, October 15th, 1-4pm
Join Faith Hunt in a search for the perfect mushroom! Meet outside at UVFC to carpool to Faith’s destination of choice. Faith says bring your own mushroom for her to help you identify. Come back to the Co-op for a quick cook and tasting upstairs in the Co-op’s Classroom! Bring a knife and a basket for collection. Registration required. Workshop costs $10 for UVFC member/ $15 for UVFC non-members. Register online on here. Please note that this workshop may be cancelled due to poor mushroom growing conditions. Full refunds will be given in the event of cancellation on the Co-op’s behalf. Children 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Planting Garlic Saturday, October 21st, 1-2pm
Want to know more about growing garlic? Participants will get a hands-on opportunity to practice planting hard-neck varieties at the WRJ Community Garden. Chris Jacobson, class instructor, will explain the basics of when, where, and how to plant garlic. Children 13 and under must be accompanied by adults. Space is limited, please RSVP online to hold a spot.

The Member Library is a collection of donated and gathered books and DVDs on topics related to Food and Alternative Living. It is located upstairs in the Classroom. The Library is open to the Upper Valley community during Library Open Hours. Visitors are welcome to sit and enjoy the books, and Library members may check out books. Talk to the Librarian on staff during open hours to find out how to become a Library member. Have a look at our Open Hours to find a time that works best for you!
The Grow It! webinar for community and school gardeners—5:00-6:15pm, Wednesday, October 11—will cover season extension techniques and on-the-ground examples of how to manage them in community and school garden settings. All presenters will be available for questions during the webinar and will share tips and favorite resources. Viewing Parties take place 4:30-7:00pm and include webinar viewing, networking and discussion with others involved with community and school gardens.
