BOARD OF DIRECTORS

WHAT IS A BOARD OF DIRECTORS?

The Board of Directors is elected by the membership to direct the vision of the co-op, oversee policy, and represent our Co-op in the cooperative world. The building and the store itself are managed completely by staff – they’re the experts! The Board’s job is to ensure that obligations to the Co-op members and the staff are being fulfilled. Individual Directors represent the collective membership and guide the cooperative to benefit our community.

These are your member representatives who help make sure the co-op is following its mission statement and ends policy, and help plan the store’s vision. Some members have been involved in the co-op for decades while others have only recently joined.

WANT TO JOIN OUR BOARD?

Our Board of Directors is always seeking new members! New members are elected by the membership at our Harvest Celebration & Annual Meeting each October.

  

There is no required experience for joining the board, and we welcome applicants from all areas of the Upper Valley, backgrounds, ages, and members of under-represented groups. The only requirements for applying to join the board is that you are a member in good standing, and you are willing to fulfill the commitments and responsibilities of a board member.

Please remember that the Board of Directors oversees the vision of the co-op, and is not involved with daily operations. If you have comments or questions about products we carry or other topics related to store operations you can email info@uppervalleyfood.coop

Members are welcome to attend monthly Board meetings, which are held on the 4th Tuesday of every month (except November and December) from 6 to 8pm, upstairs in the Co-op Classroom. Board Meeting dates can be found on our Co-op Event Calendar. Please let us know if you plan to attend a meeting!

​

Our Board will also be hosting Community Connection morning dates once or twice a month, to engage in open conversation with co-op members. Keep an eye out for those upcoming dates!
